Haley-Rose Severson
ATTORNEY, Maslon LLP
Haley-Rose Severson is an attorney in Maslon's Litigation Group who advises clients on a range of commercial disputes and general litigation matters. She brings to her practice extensive trial experience gained as an assistant county attorney in Minnesota. In her most recent position in the Hennepin County Attorney's Office, Haley-Rose managed over 100 concurrent cases, conducting jury trials and motion hearings, presenting evidence through witnesses and exhibits, analyzing extensive discovery materials, and spearheading negotiations with opposing counsel.
At the University of Minnesota Law School, where she earned her J.D., Haley-Rose served as the co-founder and co-president of the Native American Law Students' Association and as a leader on the Student Affinity Council. She also volunteered with the Refugee and Immigrant Center for Education and Legal Services, providing legal assistance to families in ICE detention.

Priyanka Shah-Schommer
LAW CLERK, Maryland Insurance Administration
Priyanka graduated from the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities, and then moved to Maryland to attend law school at the University of Maryland, Carey Law. There, she was a senior editor of the international law journal and president of the international moot court team. After law school and passing the bar, she moved back home to Minnesota and began working as a Law Clerk for the Maryland Insurance Administration (remotely). In that role, she drafted final orders after the Commissioners held hearings on cases regarding insurance complaints. Priyanka is licensed to practice in both Maryland and Minnesota. -
Mayna Thor
LAW CLERK, Ramsey County
Mayna worked as a Judicial Law Clerk for the Honorable Der Yang in Ramsey County. In this position, Mayna helped the Court with legal research, writing orders, and dealing with the public on a daily basis in the courtroom. Mayna has extensive past professional experience with public interest roles such as working at the Ramsey County Attorney's Office, the Attorney General's Office, and many other internships. Aside from writing orders and being in the courtroom, Mayna enjoys going to the gym, painting, and traveling when she has time. -
Bernice Woods
MANAGING ATTORNEY, Minnesota Freedom Fund
Bernice Woods was born and raised in Washington, DC. She graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2018, double-majoring in Sociology and Legal Studies and earning a Certificate in Criminal Justice. After undergrad, she attended Mitchell Hamline School of Law in St. Paul, MN. After graduating from law school, Bernice worked as a criminal defense attorney at the Hennepin County Public Defender’s Office. After nearly two years in public defense work, Bernice transitioned to the nonprofit sector. Currently, Bernice works as the Managing Attorney for the Minnesota Freedom Fund. Bernice is passionate about her commitment to public service and reforming the criminal legal system. With her passion for justice, Bernice practices law with the mindset of giving back to her community and helping those who often are overlooked and unheard.
